Ganjam is the cultural capital of South Odisha. Since ancient times, various forms of folk art have been practiced here. However, with the passage of time, many folk art traditions have gradually disappeared due to a lack of encouragement and patronage.
For many years, I have been trying to promote and preserve these traditions through my artworks.
In an art camp jointly organized by Utkal University of Culture and Berhampur University, I created a painting titled “Glorious Ganjam 2026/1.” On the background of this painting, I have included the famous wall paintings of the renowned Shri Biranchinarayan Temple, along with Bagha Nata (Tiger Dance), a popular folk dance of Ganjam.
In the central part of the painting, I have depicted a Shri Krishna mask, traditionally worn by a devoted young boy during the famous Maa Budhi Thakurani Yatra of Berhampur. The mask is shown floating in the air, and its shadow falls upon the ground.
Through this artwork, I wish to convey that our culture is truly great. The pearl garland spread across the background symbolizes and represents our folk dance traditions.
Many folk art forms of Ganjam are slowly disappearing due to a lack of support. Therefore, for a long time, I have been working through my art to preserve these traditions and to promote them widely. As a result, exhibitions of my work have been held in 30 foreign countries.

ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ରାଜଧାନୀ ହେଉଛି ଗଞ୍ଜାମ। ପ୍ରାଚୀନ କାଳରୁ ଏଠାରେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାରର ଲୋକକଳା ପ୍ରଚଳିତ ହୋଇଆସୁଛି। ମାତ୍ର ସମୟାନୁକ୍ରମେ ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ ପ୍ରୋତ୍ସାହନ ଏବଂ ପୃଷ୍ଠପୋଷକତାର ଅଭାବ ଯୋଗୁଁ ଅନେକ ଲୋକକଳା ପରମ୍ପରା ଧୀରେ ଧୀରେ ବିଲୁପ୍ତ ହେବାରେ ଲାଗିଛି।
ଅନେକ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ମୁଁ ମୋର କଳାକୃତି ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଏହି ପରମ୍ପରାଗୁଡ଼ିକର ପ୍ରସାର ଏବଂ ସଂରକ୍ଷଣ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରୟାସ କରିଆସୁଛି। ଉତ୍କଳ ସଂସ୍କୃତି ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ଏବଂ ବ୍ରହ୍ମପୁର ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ମିଳିତ ଆନୁକୁଲ୍ୟରେ ଆୟୋଜିତ ଏକ କଳା ଶିବିରରେ ମୁଁ “ଗ୍ଲୋରିଅସ୍ ଗଞ୍ଜାମ ୨୦୨୬/୧” ଶୀର୍ଷକରେ ଏକ ଚିତ୍ରକଳା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିଥିଲି। ଏହି ଚିତ୍ରର ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମିରେ (Background) ମୁଁ ବିଶ୍ୱପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଶ୍ରୀ ବିରଞ୍ଚିନାରାୟଣ ମନ୍ଦିରର କାନ୍ଥ ଚିତ୍ର ସହିତ ଗଞ୍ଜାମର ଅତି ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ ଲୋକନୃତ୍ୟ 'ବାଘ ନାଟ' କୁ ସ୍ଥାନିତ କରିଛି।
ଚିତ୍ରର କେନ୍ଦ୍ରଭାଗରେ ମୁଁ ଏକ ଶ୍ରୀକୃଷ୍ଣ ମୁଖାର ଚିତ୍ରଣ କରିଛି, ଯାହା ବ୍ରହ୍ମପୁରର ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ମା' ବୁଢ଼ୀ ଠାକୁରାଣୀ ଯାତ୍ରା ସମୟରେ ଜଣେ କୁନି ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାଳୁ ବାଳକ ପରିଧାନ କରିଥାଏ। ଏହି ମୁଖାଟି ଶୂନ୍ୟରେ ଭାସୁଥିବା ପରି ଦର୍ଶାଯାଇଛି ଏବଂ ଏହାର ଛାୟା ଭୂମି ଉପରେ ପଡ଼ିଥିବାର ଚିତ୍ରିତ ହୋଇଛି।
ଏହି କଳାକୃତି ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ମୁଁ ଏହା ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ଦେବାକୁ ଚାହୁଁଛି ଯେ ଆମର ସଂସ୍କୃତି ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ମହାନ। ପୃଷ୍ଠଭୂମିରେ ବିଛାଯାଇଥିବା ମୁକ୍ତା ମାଳା ଆମର ଲୋକନୃତ୍ୟ ପରମ୍ପରାର ପ୍ରତୀକ ଭାବେ ଶୋଭା ପାଉଛି।
ପର୍ଯ୍ୟାପ୍ତ ସହାୟତା ଅଭାବରୁ ଗଞ୍ଜାମର ଅନେକ ଲୋକକଳା ଆଜି ବିଲୁପ୍ତପ୍ରାୟ। ତେଣୁ, ଦୀର୍ଘ ଦିନ ଧରି ମୁଁ ମୋର ଚିତ୍ରକଳା ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଏହି ପରମ୍ପରାକୁ ସାଇତି ରଖିବା ସହ ଏହାର ବ୍ୟାପକ ପ୍ରଚାର ପ୍ରସାର ପାଇଁ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରୁଛି। ଫଳସ୍ୱରୂପ, ଆଜି ବିଶ୍ୱର ପ୍ରାୟ ୩୦ଟି ବିଦେଶୀ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ମୋର ଚିତ୍ରକଳା ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶିତ ହୋଇସାରିଛି।
